Amnesty International is bringing a life-size model of a maximum security cell at Guantánamo to Tent State University. Visitors will get a glimpse of the harsh realities of illegal detention and prolonged isolation.

Most detainees at Guantánamo are held in isolation, many of them with virtually no access to natural light or contact with other human beings, for up to 24 hours a day. Compounding their suffering is the fact that they have no indication of when or if they will be freed from Guantánamo.

Most are detained without charge. Those who have been charged face unfair trials by military commission. Some could then be executed.

Visitors are encouraged to enter and experience the conditions of isolation and take action to end illegal US detentions.

Resurrection City Free University, named in honor of the Poor People's Campaign on Washington in '68, will host guest "professors" that include Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney, and others as well as tactics and strategy trainings by No War No Warming, Ruckus, and others designed to give us the skills needed to immediately make an impact both at the Convention and back in our own communities.

Nearly every soldier in Iraq has pulled guard duty. The Iraq Veterans Against the War will erect a guard tower at Tent State to draw attention to the bullshit that is "Stop-Loss" and to symbolize their continued commitment to their pledge to defend the Constitution.

The Backbone Campaign will set up base at Tent State University, providing striking visual aid to further our message and engage people. The will also be spearheading "The Funeral for the Past, Procession for the Future" march on Tuesday.
